This Week's GC Top Ten List - Bidding Ends Sunday, August 1st, 2021

Rattler 1797 Half Dollar, Shipwreck Coins, Mormon $5, Gobrecht Dollar & More

Welcome to this week's Top Ten List from GreatCollections.

This is a big week for GreatCollections.  Aside from what we have just listed for auctions later in August, such as the ultimate Morgan Dollar (1893-S graded PCGS MS-67 CAC!!), we're preparing a big announcement about the ANA World's Fair of Money to be held in a few weeks.

Back to the auctions this week.  One of the highlights is the 1797 Half Dollar, in an original Rattler holder by PCGS and CAC approved.  We also have several Shipwreck coins, from the S.S. Republic and S.S. Brother Jonathan.  #2 is one of those coins, a high grade 1865-S Double Eagle from the S.S. Republic graded NGC MS-65.

There's also a Mormon $5, Gobrecht Dollar, recently graded 1850 $10 Gold Eagle, and even a large silver ingot from the U.S. Assay Office.

Although, these ten auctions might be perfect for what you're looking for, please be aware that this is only a tiny percentage of the whole auction.  Each week, GreatCollections auctions over 4,000 certified coins and banknotes!  So, if you don't see anything of interest below, be sure to browse our categories or view all upcoming auctions.

Happy collecting!

- Ian

Number 10:

1865-S Liberty Gold Double Eagle NGC MS-64 (Brother Jonathan Shipwreck)

Number 9:

1951 Franklin Half Dollar PCGS Proof-67 DCAM

Second year proof issue, and only one example has graded finer at PCGS.

Number 8:

1968 Silver 991 Ounce New York U.S. Assay Office Ingot Uncertified (ASW = 989.0 oz.)

This is the first time we have handled an older Silver ingot of this size. Stamped with U.S. Assay Office. Be warned, this is heavy.
