1919 Doubled Die Mercury Dime to be Auctioned by GreatCollections
Coin is finest of about 10 known.
February 3, 2016, Irvine, Calif. – GreatCollections is pleased to have been selected to auction the finest known 1919 Mercury Dime Doubled Die Obverse, graded PCGS XF-40. Only about 10 coins are known of the newly discovered major variety.
"It is not often a major variety is discovered almost 100 years after it was issued. This doubled die ranks as one of the most important, alongside the 1969-S and 1955 Lincolns, but has already turned out to be significantly scarcer" said Ian Russell, President/founder of GreatCollections.
The coin is being auction unreserved. Bidding will end on Sunday, February 14, 2016.
GreatCollections has high quality images posted at www.greatcollections.com and the coin is available to view by appointment at their Irvine, California headquarters. GreatCollections will also take the coin to the Long Beach Coin Expo and display at table 513.
