The 1911-D Quarter Eagle is the key to the series, with a mintage of just 55,680 pieces. The next lowest mintage in the series, for comparative purposes, is the 1927 with 388,000 pieces.
Only 15 coins have been graded by PCGS at the MS-64+ level, with 25 coins finer. This coin jumps $25,000+ at the MS-65 level, which makes this 64+ desirable on many levels.
