Liberty Gold Double Eagles
About Liberty Gold Double Eagles: The Double Eagle was authorized by the Act of March 3, 1849, along with the Gold Dollar, to keep up with the influx of incoming gold from the California Gold Rush. It is the largest denomination regular-issue US coin, and it became the favored denomination in overseas trade. The Liberty Double Eagle, which experienced a few minor design modifications, was minted from 1850 to 1907.
