|GC Item Title:||1959 Gold 63.1mm Alaska Statehood Medal Serial #92 on Edge PCGS SP-65 (Approx. AGW = 6.30 oz.)|
|Description:||From a maximum mintage of a mere 100 pieces struck in gold by the|
Medallic Art Company of New York, although insiders have reported no
more than 56 were actually struck. Of these, many likely found their
way into the melting pot during the gold boom of the late 70s and
early 80s. An understandable end given the original issue price of
An impressive hefty modern medal featuring an outline of Alaska over
an outline of the continental U.S. on the obverse. The reverse is a
full image of the state seal of Alaska. This example bears some light
toning haloing the devices and attests to the originality of the
surfaces. One of only eight pieces thus certified which seldom become
available to collectors and is the only certified by PCGS.
Numbered on the edge (#92) and weighs 218.18g.
