Description:A truly draw dropping full and complete set of Maundy Coinage sets from each issuance during the reign of Queen Victoria.

While there are a handful of outliers in moderate to lightly circulated grades the overwhelming majority are graded MS with the largest portion garnering MS-64 to MS-66 grades. It should also be noted that the PCGS holders have sequential serial numbers indicative to the fact the entire set was graded at one time. Additionally the holders feature solid pale blue labels and hence do not have PL designations as they would if they were submitted today. Beautiful, vibrant, multi-hued toning abounds on every piece, another factor which may have strengthened the grades if they were submitted today when attractive toning is more prized.

The custom display case is constructed in a triptych style allowing for the lid doors to open from the center and was surely a dazzling sight to behold when the coins were housed within. The azure blue silk lined inner doors are stamped with the makers information: Sheppard Bros. / Jewelers & Silversmiths / 23 Digbeth / Walsall. The central panel is made of fitted plush velvet panels with four coin pocket rows in four columns. The silk and velvet are exceptionally vibrant and attest to how the coins gained their high eye appeal. For accuracy the leather wrapping on the outside of the case does show some splitting along the top and bottom edges but is, all things considered, minor.

A stunning set the likes of which we have never come across before. Sure to take a place of pride and prestige in whatever collection it enters next.

For international bidders please note that additional shipping fees may apply due to the large size of this offering.
