Liberty Nickels replaced the Shield Nickel in 1883 and were minted until 1913, although the 1913 Liberty Nickel was not a regular issue and never placed into circulation. There are only five known and all are comfortably housed in museums and private collections.

GreatCollections has sold 4,483 Liberty Nickels in the past 10 years, selling at prices from $5 to $15,474, in grades 1 to 70. Of these, 658 were approved by CAC.

The design was made by: Charles E. Barber.
