Rare 1792 Penny Sells for $1.15 Million...

For several hours this morning, we had a very special penny on display at the GreatCollections Central States table.  The 1792 Silver Center Cent sold for $1.15 million last night at the Central States auction, bought by Kevin Lipton of Kevin Lipton Rare Coins.

The coin is considered the third finest example of fourteen known to exist.  It last sold for $105,000 in 1974.
