May 27 Update, Raw Coins, Consignments, Long Beach...Ian Russell on Fri, May 27, 2011 03:47:23 PM
We are just finishing a record week at GreatCollections:
1. We received a $25,000 bid on the 1842-O, a record bid at GreatCollections since our launch. The auction still has almost 30 days to go.
2. Our total listings hit 1,480 this week, and we expect this number to continue to grow in upcoming weeks and months.
3. A record # of hours worked by our staff. :-)
Thank you to all of our members who are bidding, consigning and offering feedback on our services and website. We sincerely appreciate it.
We are often asked by clients whether we will accept raw coins in our auctions. Our usual answer is no; we only auction certified coins. However, over the past month, we have secured several consignments that included a bunch of raw coins. They range from an odd roll of 1915-S Half Dollars to hundreds of Morgan Dollars. Rather than not accept them, we took them on consignment and have created a new category:
Raw Collections & Lots
20-30 lots will upload this weekend, with bidding ending on Monday, June 6th. All lots will be available for view at Long Beach, and also at our office by appointment. Regardless of whether you are new client or not, shipping will apply to these bulkier lots (and charged based on weight/our cost plus packing), as opposed to our normal shipping schedule.
There are some good items. AU-Unc Morgan Dollars, a roll of 1c VDBs, collections of Washington Quarters and so forth. All silver-related items have face values clearly noted (and accurately counted by our staff), so bid with confidence.
(If you have this type of material for sale, please contact us - we are looking for consignments for future Raw Collections & Lots sale dates.)
The Long Beach Coin Expo is next week and we will be in attendance on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at table 521. We'll be showing highlights, accepting consignments and showing off our website.
Best regards,
- Ian
