British Crowns Stamped with Roman Numerals
Ian Russell on Sun, Dec 04, 2011 10:41:42 AM
During 1893 and 1900, Great Britain released a Veiled Head Crown (which is sometimes referred to as the Old or Widowed head design).

The edges of the Veiled Head crowns are stamped with the regnal year, starting with LVI in the first part of 1893. There are two regnal dates per calendar year, as the queen's accession to the throne was in June 1837.
