$21,000 for the Trifecta Ultra High Relief
Ian Russell on Sun, Sep 30, 2012 09:59:34 PM
Another notable realization tonight at GreatCollections.  We sold the Trifecta 2009 Ultra High Relief, graded PCGS MS-70 Proof Like First Strike for $20,903 (including the Buyer's Fee).

27 have been graded by PCGS, and they rarely appear on the market in this grade.  The coin was sold unreserved with 11 unique bidders placing 36 bids.

In 2009, the Ultra High Relief was issued by the U.S. Mint to pay homage to the classic Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle, widely considered the most beautiful U.S. coin ever minted.  115,000 were issued and was originally sold by the Mint for just $1,189.
