The sculptor of the Sacagawea, Ms. Goodacre requested that her payment for the design be delivered in the form of 5000 specially struck Sacagawea dollars. After they were delivered to Ms. Goodacre, it was discovered that a small group of these coins lacked the post-strike burnishing like the rest of the coins. These are called Type 1, and this is numbered #6 out of the 130 (approximate) Type 1 coins known.
